Fidel Hogan Walsh has always had a passion for words, from letters to friends to a diary to her newborn son. One day she discovered a way to open a closed door within herself: through the Twitter poetry community, giving her a way to exercise her demons and express a brighter, more positive outlook on life. Since then, her words depicting the supernatural, horror and romance have been read across the world.
Her current collection of poems and tales reflect different sides of love: family, jealousy, the sensual, death, madness and the just plain crazy. Think of them as a collection of emotions, all used in the name of love.
Will you find yourself somewhere within her words? If you do, follow her on

Hidden Stills are a Wicklow based duo who have been writing and performing their own style of contemporary folk songs since 2017. They have created beautiful songs of reflection and introspection which at times are dark and emotional. Their close harmonies and interesting melodies have been extremely well received. Christian and Mildred released their self-titled album in July 2019. The album contains 11 songs and took 18 months to complete under the guidance of producer Darragh Nolan of Asta Kalapa Studios. The pair decided to augment their own style with a variety of acoustic instruments played by some very talented musicians. The cello in particular, features strongly throughout giving a dark and edgy feel to the album.
Following the release of their debut single “The Way That It Goes” Hidden Stills were included by Garageland Ireland in their Top Ten “Ones To Watch” in 2019. They have enjoyed airplay in Ireland, UK, Canada and USA.

Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova is a visual artist, originally from Slovakia living in Ireland over 15 years, creating three-dimensional paper artwork. Miriam graduated as a Furniture Designer and was always inspired by geometry and mathematics, subjects which run strongly in her family, with her mother and sister who both worked as math teachers. Miriam's work, also known as Paper On Edge, is based on an old traditional technique of paper quilling. By combining this with her passion for mathematics and geometry, she introduces a whole new visual art language. Each piece is based on a specific mathematical relationship, symmetry or sequence, and usually based on basic platonic shapes. To create each finished artwork she spends hours designing, cutting, folding and glueing paper, in order to achieve the required depth and movement. She approaches the process with a mixture of curiosity and precision. Some pieces are created intuitively, while others are pre-designed with every single cut carefully measured. Colours and textures are architectonically brought alive, fusing mathematics and art together.

Fergus Daly (Indie-rock)
Olivia Canavan (Visual Artist)
Danny Forde (Singer/Songwriter)
Fergus Daly is an upcoming Irish indie-rock artist. Despite only releasing his first song in December 2017, he has gone on to rack up over half a million cumulative views for his music videos!
Although always being musical and a music lover – it runs through his veins, he says - Daly was a late starter on the music scene, only setting off on this journey in earnest in autumn of 2016. The catalyst was upheaval in his personal life, a difficult episode which he channeled into his latent, untapped songwriting ability. A few months later he had produced sufficient material for a debut EP, which he set about recording in Autumn 2018, in Jealoustown Studios, under the stewardship of producer, Stuart Gray (who also played guitar and keyboard on the album).
“I'm wearing my heart on my sleeve in this album ... in terms of concept, I think it's an attempt at an honest portrayal of myself: a bundle of contradictions ... hence the title ... each song representing a different side of me ... some being deeply personal, being forged from a difficult period in my life ... But I hope, despite that, their appeal is universal in nature ...”

Danny Forde is a singer-songwriter and composer hailing from Dublin. Vocal harmony, string quartets, fingerstyle guitar, and healing sounds feature strongly in all his music. Danny trained originally as a concert pianist, later cutting his teeth as a singer/guitarist with rock, folk, and funk bands, before diving into the world of film and theatre composition where boundaries between the art forms break down, all the while developing his songwriting craft.
Taking influence from a wide range of artists and styles, notably Bon Iver, Damien Rice, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Elbow, and Nick Drake, the music is acoustic-driven, while often weaving in elements funk, disco, choral music and classical.
Coming from a background in Yoga, Danny’s greatest inspiration comes from the ability of music to resonate with the goodness, love and creative energy living inside everyone.

Gerry Tully (folksinger)
Giant Wolf Theatre Company(Improv Drama)
Sarah Buckley (singer/songwriter)
[Gerry Tully] has a winning voice full of raw emotion and a great way with a well-crafted song. ‘True Love’ is a performance that comes as close to the greatness of Christy Moore as I’ve heard since Damien Dempsey. Its delicate harmonies lift the spirits. ‘Give me Fire’ is boosted by strong vocals, with a hint of Paul Brady in the phrasing, and a fine chorus that eases into your skull.
-- Jackie Hayden Hot Press Magazine
Gerry Tully is a native of Meath, Ireland, who has carved himself a reputation as an outstanding performer, entertaining crowds with his own evocative style. A natural, self-taught musician with a vast repertoire from across the folk genre, Gerry’s performance combines the clarity of Ronnie Drew, the complexity of Richard Thompson, the passion of Luke Kelly and the poetic style of Leonard Cohen. He compels you to listen as if hearing well-known classics for the first time, drawing you into his world. Gerry is a magnificent interpreter of song, but when others words leave off – his own begins. As a songwriter and aided by a degree in Philosophy and English, Gerry’s songs are mesmerizing, political and caring, thoughtful and haunting.
As a performer, Gerry toured Ireland, England, and Germany with the Traditional group Coisir and Europe and America with Derek Warfield the front-man for the renowned ballad group The Wolfe Tones. In 2008 Gerry released his debut album ‘Leaves Float Down’ and began the year touring alongside Ronnie Drew, Finbar Furey and Don Baker on their ‘Legends’ tour. He embarked on an Irish tour with fellow musician, Emmett Vaughan in a bluegrass-styled duo called Blue Cedar Project, playing support slots in Vicar Street and Cork Opera House. Gerry performed at the Folk en Pagaille Festival in France 2012 and returned to headline the event in 2013. In 2014 he opened the first ever Irish festival weekend dedicated to the music of Leonard Cohen in Liberty Hall, Dublin. He marked the occasion by launching his ‘Maverick’ EP. In 2015 Gerry appeared alongside John Sheehan, Andy Irvine, Donal Lunny, Michael Howard, and Mick O'Brien in celebration of the life of The Dubliner's banjo player and friend, Barney McKenna.
Having taken a break from performing to pursue a degree in English and Philosophy, completed in 2015, Gerry returned to his folk roots with his new album ‘Things Heard’, a collection of folk songs from Ireland, Scotland, and England, including three originals. They deliver a message of timeless relevance, that of cultural upheaval, personal loss, and social exclusion. Gerry’s songs, originals, and covers have appeared on radio both nationally and internationally.
Gerry continues to perform around Ireland and he still performs at his long-standing residency in Don Baker’s establishment, Brogan’s Bar in Trim, performing a mixture of folk and original songs. The gig is a long-standing success for over ten years. In January of this year, Gerry performed at The Legend of Luke Kelly 35th anniversary concert in Vicar Street alongside Chris Kavanagh, John Sheehan, and members of Luke Kelly’s family.
2019 sees Gerry take his new project ‘If It BeYour Will’ performing his take on the songs of Leonard Cohen paying homage to the words and music of the Canadian troubadour and keeping the flame of folk music alive.

"Fun lyrics from a song-writer that oozes quirkiness - if you like a bit of edge then you'll enjoy this!" David Dee Moore - Acoustic Yard Festival and Radio/Blues and Roots Radio
"Composer Extraordinaire!" David Halpin - The Circle Sessions
Lou Reed meets Damien Dempsey – but what really shines from Liam Oragh is his originality.
Best known for his catchy quirky song 'Hey Nelson' ( Winner of Best Song of the Festival Award at the 2016 Hardly Strictly Acoustic Festival in Naas) about wanting to inherit Nelson Mandela's shirt collection, alternative singer-songwriter Liam Oragh's new album The Arguments Against Insanity (the follow up to his Jackie Hayden Hot Press Pick-of-the-Fortnight award-winning debut album, Only 2 Late If You're Dead, was successfully launched in Whelans in April 2017 followed by a Irish tour which finished in The Workman's Club in April 2018.
Songs about madness, songs about life, love, getting older, and cryogenically cheating death ('Thaw me out when you can cure me') — with stop offs along the way that include his topical single — ‘Oblivious’, about a girl he saw almost walk under a bus while looking at her mobile phone; ‘Lake Louise’, about getting chased by a grizzly bear in the Canadian Rockies and, ’12 Monkeys’, about wanting to check himself into a notorious mental institution, not forgetting the album's opening screamer 'Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity'.
Songs to stay sane to — or songs to go insane to? He's not sure yet — but the one thing he is certain of -- Who needs therapy when you've got music!

Sandra Coote from Crafts of Ireland demonstrates and teaches traditional skills and crafts to people of all ages. A lifelong interest in crafts, a love of tradition and a passion to keep alive our rich craft heritage are the ingredients that inspired Crafts of Ireland. From churning butter to spinning wool and flax or knitting socks on antique sock knitting machines, their studio doubles as a craft museum and a warm and welcoming crafting space where workshops are held. They love food as much as they do crafts and guests frequently enjoy afternoon tea and Craft workshop, homebaking, vintage china and heritage or modern crafts for the perfect afternoon out with friends or family.
The craft studio is unique, Sandra is the only Irish person who operates antique sock knitting machines and has the only working collection of these machines on display to the public, they sit happily with sewing machines that date from the 1860s and spinning wheels for similar or earlier periods. This year Crafts of Ireland will be going back in time and growing their own flax, something that Sandra’s family was recorded as doing in the 1821 census.

Alan Halpin (sculptor)
Brendan Melia (singer/songwriter)
Néamh O’Donoghue has studied music theatre throughout her life and specifically at the Performance Academy for a decade. Singing, dancing and drama are her passion and she has become a teacher in order to share that passion.
She specializes in singing musical theatre pieces and has recently begun performing as a solo artist and writing her own material.
Alan Halpin won a scholarship to the National College of Art and Design but left after a year as he found the curriculum too restrictive. He has worked as a wildlife illustrator for IFC magazine in Dublin and then became a professional tattoo artist for many years. During this time he continued to dabble in painting, drawing, sculpting & writing which have always been his main interests. He has a love of nature and history as well as Irish folklore & mythology and his art reflects this.

Brendan Melia describes himself as a middle-aged white man with a hat based in Oldcastle, Co Meath.
He plays guitar and harmonica and sometimes writes my own songs! His music is heavily influenced by Irish folk and lots of other acoustic music. Brendan is still very much a developing musician, slowly mastering his instruments and thoroughly enjoying the process. His songs are based on his experiences as I like to write about what I’m familiar with.
The lyrics get written and sit on dusty shelves, sometimes for years, only then to be taken out into the light, to be edited and played with and twisted into something resembling a song.

She has collaborated with an eclectic mix of artists over the years, performing and recording as a band member with the likes of Saramai, Eugene Donegan, The Handsome Boatmen and If. She has collaborated with an eclectic mix of artists over the years, performing and recording as a band member with the likes of Saramai, Eugene Donegan, The Handsome Boatmen and If. Her own brand of music is a folk/blues blend, coupling captive melodic tunes with disarmingly honest lyrics. Joy's long-awaited debut album is due for release in 2019.

The Fieldmice are a brother duo consisting of Oliver Jordan-Kelly and Jack Jordan O'Reilly. Ollie and Jack started playing together in mid-2018. They consist of two guitarists with two complementing voices. Their music deals with themes of depression and the fight to overcome this along with Irish folklore and love to name just a few. 2019 will hopefully be a busy year for the harmonic duo.
Native to Navan, County Meath, Sharon Maher studied for her National Diploma at Sligo Institute of Technology. After graduating in 1992, Sharon travelled to Portugal to study ceramics. She lived and worked there for four years and on her return home continued her education to complete a BA (Honours Degree) in Fine Art in 1999. She worked in the Signal Arts Centre in Bray for two years and is currently a teacher and Resource person at Youthreach Progression where she manages the centre and teaches QQI level 5 Art Subjects.
"I work in all mediums from oils and acrylics to glue and household paints. I paint, sculpt, Batik, print and also work in Ceramics. I do a lot of community arts projects from painting murals, building parade floats or giant puppets to social issue projects. I don’t like to put a label on myself but if I did I would be an abstract expressionist with a sense of realism. I am more concerned with the process than the end result and most of my work has no lines in it where the colour creates the illusion of lines. I love doing community arts projects where I use art to cross cultural boundaries and I believe art is for everyone not to be kept in ivory towers."

Paul McCann (Singer/Songwriter)
Orlagh Meegan-Gallagher (Visual Artist)
Lily Burke (Singer/Songwriter)
Paul McCann
Cavan singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paul McCann has recently released his debut album Here Comes the Rapture (28 September, 2018). The album was preceded by the single ‘Keep the Devil Within’ in June 2018 which received strong radio support and charted at number 3 in Ireland's Indie Single Chart. Keep an eye out for songstress Aine Cahill who also appears in the song's video. The next single ‘It’s Only a Fantasy’ also received strong airplay and drew comparisons to Elvis Costello and power pop giants Jellyfish. The music video for ‘It’s Only a Fantasy’ was also highly commended for its use of state of the art hologram projections. An extremely talented musician, McCann played almost all of the instrumentation on the album, including - Vocals, Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Electric Bass, Double Bass, Slide Guitar, Piano, Mellotron, Harmonica, Kazoo, and Trumpet!
Here Comes the Rapture is pure pop rock, with an infectious, upbeat chorus’ and guitar driven hooks throughout.
2015 saw the release McCann’s highly-acclaimed debut EP ‘The Magician’. Recorded and mixed at JAM Studio’s alongside Martin Quinn’s co-production. Following this, he released ‘Beginning to End’, an EP comprised of home recordings. These two self-produced EPs showcased a diverse range of musical styles and influences as McCann delved into a variety of musical territories.
Paul has played various instruments in many bands over the last 20 years (including Aine Cahill’s band; power pop band The Plan; and also fronting the Johnny Cash tribute Get Rhythm). No stranger to the live scene, McCann has performed with Pugwash, The Strypes, Duncan Maitland (Picturehouse), Nelson Bragg (Brian Wilson Band/Beach Boys), Sandy Kelly, among many others.

Orlagh Meegan-Gallagher graduated from the National College of Art & Design, Dublin in 1987. She then worked as a prop and textile artist for television, theatre and film including working for Shepperton studios, England and The Sydney Opera House, Australia. She has exhibited her paintings and mixed media work both in Dublin and in London. She completed a Post Graduate in Art Education in 1995 and worked as a secondary school art teacher for thirteen years, both in England and Ireland and, alongside her teaching, continued to create work for exhibition and commissions.
Orlagh has worked full time as an artist since 2008. Her first solo exhibition, of the same year, in the Iontas Art Centre, Castleblayney was a sell out show. Her work is in private collections in London, Portugal, New York and Yemen and in 2012 she had her second solo exhibition in the Market House Gallery, Monaghan which was opened by Frank Mc Nally of the Irish Times and was covered in an extensive article in The Business Post. Airtricity bought a large body of this work for their head quarters in Dublin.
For the last four years Orlagh has been artist-in-residence at Carrickmacross Workhouse creating a large body of public artworks for the building funded by the International Fund for Ireland and Monaghan County Council.

Justyna Domaradzka
Born in Poland in the northern city of Szczecin, close to the German border in the early 80’s Justyna always loved to draw and paint. This was in her from the very beginning. Animals, another love play a big part of what makes her tick!
Justyna came to Ireland back in the early 00’s in search of adventure and opportunity.
Over the years, hotel and retail work has brought her to many parts of Ireland, Cavan, Leitrim, Meath, Offaly, Cork, but she is now back where she started, living in Virginia and working in Oldcastle.
Art has been always brought calm and happiness to Justyna and, when she's not working in the Happy Cup cafe in Oldcastle, she spends her time doing graphic design for a company in Poland, illustration work for a Polish fashion designer and making her crafts, which she sells at craft fairs, or through people who know her.

Dean Maywood (Singer/Songwriter)
Dean Maywood: Hot Press Magazine described Maywoods debut single, ‘Oileán Na Marbh’ as “. . . an absorbing listen” and “. . . a heart breaking, hushed hymn, full of passion and pathos”. Those few words not only beautifully describe ‘Oileán Na Marbh’ but could easily be used as an all-encompassing summary of Maywood’s music. Maywood’s music deals in the narratives of the everyman, stories we all know; love, loss, isolation, joy, fear, desperation and of course the universal musical Rosetta stone . . . heart ache.
Born in County Louth to a seamstress mother and a gigging musician father he spent his early years in Monaghan Town later moving to the small market town of Raphoe in County Donegal, swapping one terrace house for another. This coupled with summers spent with his grandparents in Dublin resulted in Maywood always being the kid with ‘the accent’ never quite one of the locals - one reason for a sense of longing in his writing.
As a child his father would return from weeks gigging the length and breadth of Ireland, England and Scotland with gifts more often than not in the form of CDs and tape cassettes featuring bands like The Eagles, Queen and Thin Lizzy. These rock artists mixed with his mother’s LP collection of Dr. Hook, Fleetwood Mac, Nancy Griffith and Dwight Yokham serve as the touchstone of his music today.
Today, drawing from this spring of vintage 70s golden era, rock, pop and country Maywood, distils it down to the common theme they all hold, simple beautiful melody and lyrics with heart. Less is more in that respect, artists like Neil Young, and the Great American Songwriter John Prine are his living heroes. Like Prine, he tries to find beauty in the mundane, the stories of those very people from his own small town, trying to make you smile and cry from one verse to the next and always trying to be - if not original, then authentic, especially when it comes to emotion.
Currently refining his sound and recording material for his debut album as well as paying his dues in bars and clubs gaining a little headway as he does, playing support for ‘Goats Don’t Shave’ at two sold out theatre shows and one for ‘The 4 Of Us’. This summer he appeared in the Leitrim and Galway Fringe Festivals as well as playing support to 'Phil Coulter' and 'Jason Wilber'. Live is where he really shines, having been a singer in a rock band for almost six years he knows how to handle an audience and in the same breath draw them in with his emotive performance, empathetic prose, tactful delivery and haunting storytelling.
Maywood also currently organises and curates a monthly original music night call 'The Ghostlight Sessions' in the Balor theatre in Donegal, featuring acts from all over the country.

Carol O'Connor has a B.A honours degree from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland. Prior to this she worked for a number of years as an administrator in the Toradh Gallery and as a youth arts worker. She has had a number of solo exhibitions in Ireland. She won the ‘Going Solo’ art award from Meath County Arts Office in 2009 and has work in the collections of Benetton, imago Mundi, AXA, OPW, Contemporary Arts Society, and Beaulieu House and have had work displayed at RHA and Digest Carlow.
Carol's work has arisen out of a need to paint. It is a personal response to the world she inhabits as she attempts to describe through colour and images, a sense of longing, the need to feel secure and the desire to escape. Colour plays an important role and images which appear to be playful are often filled with emptiness and a feeling of loss. Real and fantasy worlds collide in an effort to evaluate and draw some meaning from an often perplexing and increasingly chaotic world.
Houses and dwellings often feature in the work. This can be interpreted in a number of ways. Firstly, on a personal level they are Carol's own longing for security and sanctuary in an unstable world. While there is a longing and a real obvious need to be housed it is also a trap and a place where one can feel smothered and tethered to. Secondly, they symbolize our recent economic travails and allude to the property bubble/downfall, another potential trap, where one's dream can easily turn into a nightmare.
Some of the houses are precariously balanced on matchstick type legs ready to snap at any minute and appear to be vulnerable and at the same time unreachable. The pastel or candy colours express a desire to escape the day-to-day realities. Estates and flats are bathed in evening sunlight and dwell beneath an eternal pink or blue sky. Other scenes in contrast, reference romanticism by depicting images of mountains, sea and sky.

Dave Hynes (Comedy/Poetry)
Pine the Pilcrow (Indie/folk Band)
Pine the Pilcrow
In a time when bands are squealing out to be heard above the din, Pine the Pilcrow grab your attention with the gentlest of whispers. They create delicate movements with piano, fiddle and cello, but initial thoughts of folk or trad dissipate withinseconds of listening. Pine ¶he Pilcrow are more attuned to modern composition, with nods to Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds or Peter Broderick. – Buzz.ie
Since their formation a little over two years ago, Pine the Pilcrow has enjoyed a busy and warm reception to the Irish music scene. The Dublin based quartet of Kevin Murray, Hannah Ryan, Shay Sweeney and Robert Campbell create original and imaginative music by combining folk, classical and traditional influences with gruff and angelic vocal harmonies.
¶
The release of their self-titled debut E.P. in March 2016 saw them nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2016 Pure M awards, winning The Last Mixed Tape's 'Readers EP of the Year' award and nominated for Best Song at the IMRO Christie Hennessy Song Competition for their ambient and emotive ballad ‘Don’t Need Me’.
¶
The rest of an exciting year for the band featured performances at the Ruby Sessions, Connolly’s of Leap, Whelan's and slots at Irish summer festivals including the main stage in the Body & Soul area at Electric Picnic, Body and Soul Festival, Arcadian Fields and Vantastival. The band sold out their first headline performance at the Civic Theatre in Tallaght and added support slots with Joe Chester at the Unitarian Church and John Spillane, to the growing list of impressive live shows.
¶
With 2018, Pine the Pilcrow are releasing their second E.P. (Only Ghosts) and continue to build upon their incredible debut year. Working with acclaimed photographer and film maker Donal Moloney to create a beautiful and haunting video for the single ‘Only Ghosts’ and having a work with legendary songwriter Brendan Graham in the works 2018 looks like it will be one to remember for Pine ¶he Pilcrow! Allow this band, born with a sound all of their own, to sweep you away with delicate harmonies and heartfelt songs.
"gentle, cinematic and melancholic music" "bittersweet and moving" – Nialler 9, The Irish Times
"the music feels old, comfortable, like a blanket you can wrap yourself up in" – Musician.ie
The three-piece once again manage to hold our focus with sparse and pointed moments, such as the repetitious piano progression, and then whisk us up into a whirlpool of keys, strings and harmonies to borderline ecstatic climaxes, and gently, back down again. – Remy Connolly

Niki Purcell
Niki Purcell is an artist living and working in Ireland. She works primarily in oil paints, using gestural strokes to build up textured layers of paint. Her preferred subject matter are landscapes, both representative and imagined but always Irish Landscapes.
Niki Purcell attempts to depict not objective reality but rather the subjective emotions and responses to her surroundings.
Purcell lives in an old coastguard station on the borders of Wicklow and Wexford and is highly influenced by its landscape and seascape. To be surrounded by such wildness has allowed Purcell to explore not only her surroundings but also her emotional responses to her environment, a world that changes daily if not hourly. Purcell’s work expresses these movements and shifting emotions.
Purcell graduated from NCAD and has worked as an artist ever since. Exhibiting extensively in the Hugh Lane, The Guinness Hopstore and the RHA Gallery to name a few. Purcell’s work can be found in many important collections including the OPW.

Mark Smith
Mark Smith & his creative Kells TypeTrail collective uses the medium of lettering to bring an imaginative message to the streets of Kells. Kells TypeTrail, now in its eight year, is an annual festival celebrating typography and lettering as a modern art form. Each year one word is translated into a variety of languages reflecting the diversity of the Kells community. Through a series of collaborations and workshops with, for example, Kells primary & post-primary schools; students from Athlone Institute of Technology, Kells Local Heroes, Meath Rehab, Meath Mental Health, local artists and poets and Meath Arts Office, these words are then interpreted by artist Mark Smith & his creative TypeTrail team to bring an imaginative message to the streets of Kells. This takes the form of up to 22 indoor and outdoor art installations which form a walking trail around the town. Mostly temporary in nature, each year one piece is chosen as a TypeTrail legacy piece with the long term objective of a permanent TypeTrail presence in the town. This year's TypeTrail launches in Kells on 22nd June at 7.00pm

Michelle Boyle
Michelle Boyle explores story and memory through paint. She brings a sensitivity of approach to people and their narratives. Her paintings may simply depict a single every-day object such as a chair or a pair of shoes- ‘a last biography’ as the artist describes ‘ which can hold the story of a life.’
Michelle grew up as a mixed race adopted child in the 1970’s on Dublin’s Northside within the constraints of a mono cultural society with little ethnic diversity. This early experience lead to an academic background in Cultural Anthropology and Archaeology and on to extensive travel to experience first-hand new ways of understanding people and their worlds.
She is presently developing a body of work for exhibition in 2017/18 in Ireland and India titled ‘In my Father’s House there are many rooms’ inspired by her mixed race inheritance and Irish cultural identity. In 2016 she was awarded a Carpe Diem Residency to Kerala as part of this process.
Michelle is involved in cross cultural forums on art as a shared language and in 2014 represented Ireland at UNESCO with 30 international artists addressing themes of human migration and displacement. Her work was subsequently shown in the UN HQ in Paris (2015) and New York (2016)
You can see more of Michelle's work on her website http://www.michelleboyle-artist.com/
Some of her works will feature in an exhibition in the Johnson Library art space in Cavan town, which opens on Thursday the 11th of May. More information here http://www.cavanarts.ie/Default.aspx?StructureID_str=3&guid=703

Newly formed group Ojo played their first official gig at the February CO Club in Oldcastle. Pals Stephen O'Kelly and Jimbo Dowling recently took the internet by storm when a video of a performance went viral and clocked up hundreds of thousands of hits in the first few days.
The Hang drum is a relatively new percussion instrument invented in 2000 by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer in Bern, Switzerland. With the blend of the guitar and ukulele Ojo makes for a wonderfully refreshing musical experience. https://www.facebook.com/pg/OjoDublin/about/?ref=page_internal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXh0hVb3nwI&feature=youtu.be |
Brendan Tiernan is a musician and author. He lives and works in Ballinacree Co. Meath.
"As a musician, whenever I begin work on a new project and eventually get into the ‘creative space’, memories, even of childhood, can become very lucid. What I tend to do in these circumstances is open a file and sketch them down. Then, when I’m finished any musical project I go back to them. This is where all my stories come from. Sometimes I write them as plays, other times as short stories or novellas." http://www.rte.ie/drama/radio/plays/2016/1209/837705-keys-by-brendan-tiernan/ |

Robin James Hurt was born in Belfast, raised in Scotland and is living in Dublin for many moons now. His considerable talents as a guitarist, composer and singer have brought him on a rich and varied path as a solo act and with other artists, such as the late great Ronnie Drew of the Dubliners, Sinead O’Connor, Finbar Furey and many others.
As a guitarist Robin has worked in many genres, but he found his musical voice through his lifelong love for folk music, particularly from the traditions of Ireland, Scotland and England. He has gained international recognition for unique original compositions as well as fresh rearrangements of traditional material, taking often lesser-known folk songs and melodies and filling them with love, yearning and raw emotion. His work goes beyond any folk music idiom to a simple heartfelt connection anyone can understand.
Having released an album and three EPs under his own name, as well as appearing on many albums by other acts over the years, Robin's next album “The Magpie’s Nest” is a collaboration with the virtuoso young Dublin concertina player Ailbhe Nolan, to be released worldwide on 27 January 2017.
